NEW BMW MODELS SET TO BE UNVEILED AT SHOW

BMW Thailand will introduce two upgraded models at BMW Xpo 20098, which opens at Central World on September 10.
They are the 520d Sport + DVD + Navigator and the 320d + DVD + Navigator, priced at Bt2.89 million and Bt3.79 million, respectively. These prices will be offered only until the end of this month.
Sales and marketing director Karl Ruediger said the two new models featured the BMW Navigation System Professional, an advanced hard-disk-based navigation system first introduced in the BMW7 Series early this year.
The system runs on an 80-Gigabit hard disk capable of storing three-dimensional maps in the future, as well as leaving 12Gb of space for entertainment purposes. Songs from audio CDs can be "ripped" into MP3 format and stored on the hard disc.
"The offer of Navigation + DVD in all segments, including the 3 Series, 5 Series and 7 Series, signifies BMW's step ahead of the competition in the premium market," Ruediger said.
"Apart from performance, efficiency and environmental friendliness, BMW cars also offer other luxuries with the Car Infotainment Computer system, which is a package of navigation system, car control systems, Bluetooth mobile phone connection and entertainment systems such as DVD and iPod USB connector," he said.
The Car Infotainment Computer, which operates through the cars' iDrive system, acts as a command and control centre for various functions, including on-board computer, car settings (such as central locking, follow-me-home light and turning indicators), as well as navigation, communications and entertainment functions.
Both the 320d Sport and 520d Sport are powered by a 4-cylinder diesel engine featuring third-generation common-rail technology and piezo injectors. The maker claims a maximum output of 177 horsepower at 4,000rpm and maximum torque of 350Nm from 1,750-3,000rpm.
The 520d Sport also comes with an M Aerodynamic kit, 18-inch M alloy wheels and an M-Sport steering wheel.
